Dr. Gonzalo P. Martin Martin (Cádiz-Spain, 1983) carries out his work as a General and Digestive System Surgeon in the General Surgery Team of the López-Cano Medical Group in the city of Cádiz and in the Andalusian Health Service since the year 2023.
His academic training as a Bachelor of Medicine was developed at the University of Cádiz and, thanks to obtaining international scholarships, he completed his apprenticeship at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart – School of Medicine “A.Gemelli” in Rome and in Westfälische Wilhelms –University Münster – Faculty of Medicine in Germany. He specialized in General and Digestive Surgery under the direction of the renowned surgeon Dr. José Vicente Roig Vila in Valencia and, thanks to obtaining scholarships for the best CV for doctors residing in Valencia and surgeons residing in Spain, he completed his training as a specialist in the Hospital Cleveland Clinic in the United States, considered one of the best in the world, where he completed his training with the internationally renowned Dr. Steven D. Wexner.
In 2015 he received his doctorate with appointment cum laude in the historic Faculty of Medicine of the University of Valencia.
During the years 2013 to 2019 he was part of the Colorectal Surgery Departments of the Son Espases University Hospital in Palma and the San Pablo Hospital in Barcelona. In the period between 2020-2022, he was part of the prestigious team of Private surgery Quirúrgica Barcelona, with main activity in the traditional e
internationally recognized Teknon Medical Center. During this period, he was also responsible for the Department of Coloproctology and Complex Abdominal Wall at the Sagrada Familia Clinic in Barcelona.
Doctor Martin carries out his healthcare work with special dedication to colorectal surgery (diseases of the colon, rectum and anus), the abdominal wall surgery (hernias, diastasis, etc), the minimally invasive / endoscopic / laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery, laser proctology (FACIL technique, etc.) and the fluorescence guided surgery; establishing itself as a pioneer in some of these techniques worldwide.
In addition to his healthcare work, he has served as a professor at renowned universities such as the Autonomous University of
Barcelona. As well as, coordinator and instructor in training programs in colorectal pathology at a national and international level.
This intense care and teaching work is accompanied by passionate research production with more than 100
conference papers, articles in impact magazines, invited presentations such as TEDx conferences and international awards.
He has also carried out his scientific work as Junior Editor in the journal Techniques in Coloproctology, one of the
considered to have the greatest impact in colorectal surgery and innovation. Likewise, he was part of the Board of the Coloproctology Section of the Spanish Association of Surgeons during the years 2019-2022.
Gonzalo P. Martin holds the titles of International Professor from the Mexican Association of Endoscopic Surgery and is an Honorary Member of the Brazilian College of Surgeons among other memberships in scientific societies of international prestige.
In 2017 he obtained the recognized title of Fellow of The European Board of Coloproctology which gives him the certification
expert in Coloproctology recognized by the European Union. During the same year he was the winner of the 2017 innovation scholarship from the Official College of Doctors Balearic Islands for the development of robotic surgery in
the program of Postdoctoral Robotic Colorectal Surgery Fellow in it Korea University Anam Hospital in Seoul, considered the capital of robotics, in South Korea.
In 2024, he began his training in augmented leadership with Artificial Intelligence at ESADE Barcelona, where he carried out a pioneering project powered by AI for healthcare organizations. Its outstanding commitment to technological innovation in the field of health care highlights its humanized approach to this area.
